Interesting read, Tara. I am not a Very Online person and the title made me pause: I wondered what you meant by authenticity feeling fake. The key word being "feeling" :). My journey with authenticity has been guided almost entirely by my felt experience and is resonant with what you shared at the end, from Cleary's book. As I lift weights with my authenticity muscle, I feel that freedom you mention. As we tap into it, we start to feel constrained, curated even when we veer off our authentic center. I enjoyed your description of how market dictates as well as labels stuff as authentic.
